Innovation Around the World

We recently wrote an article for the IPKat blog (see here) on the recent Global Innovation Index Report (see here).  The report contains a lot of data about the innovation that is happening in most countries in the world, together with data on each country’s infrastructure.  The report analyses the extent of innovation that is happening, but does not ask some of the bigger questions such as:

– how important should innovation be in the policies of each country?

– what types of innovation should developing countries pursue?

That indicates the existence of a larger problem.  There seems to be little guidance out there on how developing countries should be exploiting the huge amount of scientific and business information that is available (for example on the internet) from the developed world.
